Then again, as I am now situated if by any chance the ship should fall in German hands they could compel me to serve in their cause, which would be break- ing both my parole and oath. Under these exceptional circumstances would it not be possible to send the necessary papers out here, this being a British Colony, and 1 could pay here whatever extra expenses this may have entailed.
